Church Times Train-A-Priest Fund appeal

19 May 2023

NEXT week, we announce the total raised in this year’s Church Times Train-A-Priest Fund appeal. As in the past two years, we have switched support from English ordinands (generously covered by a legacy) to ordinands in Africa, who often have no central financial support during their training.

The TAP Africa appeal has thus coincided with the Covid pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis; so donations have been lower than in the past. Please consider whether you can use these last days of the 2023 appeal to boost this year’s total.

As always — and since our first TAP Fund appeal in 1951 — every penny given will go to an ordinand. Nothing is retained for administration either by the Church Times or our partners, the Council of Anglican Provinces of Africa (CAPA), a co-ordinating body that operates in 25 countries in 13 Provinces.

Grants will be made irrespective of gender, age, or theological tradition.

Donating is easy via churchtimes.co.uk/train-a-priest-fund; or you can send a cheque using the form printed in previous editions of the paper. Please help us give one more turn of the TAP.

The TAP Fund never closes. Any donations after this week will be reckoned in next year’s total.
